The verb gefallen gets the umlaut in 3rd person singular, it is often used with the word gut, but translated backwards into English:
Dieser Mantel gefällt mir gut, aber der da gefällt mir besser.
I like this coat, but that one I like better.Unlike the verb zahlen, the verb bezahlen is usually used with an object:
Haben Sie den Mantel schon bezahlt?
Have you already paid for the coat? Some German nouns may differ from their English equivalents in singular and plural numbers:
der Schuh – die Schuhe
shoe – shoes
die Hose – die Hosen
trousers (sing.) – trousers (pl.)
Remember the translations men’s, women’s, children’s talking about clothes:
Herren- men’s, Damen- women’s, Kinder- children’s
Remember the following ways of word-formation (2 and 4)
an + probieren = anprobieren
be + zahlen = bezahlen
groß + e = die Große

Grammar points
Today you have learned a new word sollen. Unlike the verb müssen (see lesson 4, activity 4), it is more difficult to translate into English. The most common meaning is “supposed to” (on account of some rules, obligation, advice, request etc.):
Was soll ich machen?
What should I do?
Soll ich Ihnen noch Salat geben?
Shall I give you more salad?
Sie sollen mehr Deutsch sprechen.
You are supposed to (you should) speak German more.Note the conjugation of the verb sollen:
ich soll
wir sollen
er soll
Sie sollen
Unlike English, German has special demonstrative pronouns which look exactly like the definite article:
Das ist unser neuer Chemiker. – Wie heißt der?
Это наш новый химик. – Как его зовут?
Das ist unsere neue Lehrerin. – Wie heißt die?
Это наша новая учительница. – Как её зовут?
Das ist Herr Lang. – Den habe ich schon gesehen.
Это господин Ланг. – Его я уже видел, и т.д.
